Gurucul Wins 2016 Homeland Security Platinum Cyber Award

Industry Recognition Award Caps Banner Year of Product Innovation, Market Leadership and Strong Growth

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Jan. 5, 2017 – Gurucul, leader in user and entity behavior analytics (UEBA) and identity analytics (IdA) for on-premises and the cloud, today announced that Gurucul Risk Analytics (GRA) received the Platinum Award for Best Cyber Excellence Solution in the AST Homeland Security Awards, aka the “ASTORS”, presented by American Security Today.

“Winning the 2016 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Platinum Award capped a banner year for Gurucul,” said Saryu Nayyar, CEO of Gurucul. “This and the other awards we received last year provide further validation that Gurucul is setting the pace for innovation in User and Entity Behavior Analytics. Meanwhile, the fact that  government agencies and global Fortune 500 companies across the financial, healthcare, technology, retail and manufacturing sectors trust our technology to protect their most prized assets demonstrates that our platform is proven.”

In 2016, Gurucul grew to more than 200 employees and moved to a new larger headquarters facility. The company received powerful industry recognition from several CISO judging panels and industry experts. Gurucul was named the Best Behavior Analytics/Enterprise Threat Detection platform in the 2016 SC Awards in the US and Europe. The company was honored with three cyber security awards in the 4th Annual Cyber Defense Magazine Infosec Awards competition for Best of Breed User Behavior Analytics Solutions for 2016, Best Insider Threat Prevention Solution for 2016, and Hot Company for Insider Threat Detection Solutions for 2016. Gurucul was selected Best User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) Solution in the GSN Homeland Security Awards in 2015 & 2016. Most recently, CEO Saryu Nayyar was named Female Entrepreneur of the Year in the 13th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

In 2016, Gurucul was identified by leading industry analysts, including KuppingerCole and Gartner, for technology innovations that are changing the way government entities and enterprises protect themselves against insider threats, account compromise, data exfiltration and external intruders, both on-premise and in the cloud. Gurucul is the only vendor to meet all five use cases and the compliance and fraud qualifications in the 2015 Market Guide for User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) published by Gartner, Inc.

Gurucul has introduced several industry first technologies, including native support for Big Data of customer choice,  Self-Audits that leverage user context, Dynamic Peer Groups for improved accuracy in detecting insider threats and Intelligent Roles to reduce access risks. Meanwhile, Gurucul STUDIO enables custom machine learning models to be created without coding and minimal data science knowledge.

Gurucul also reduces excess access and access outliers through a risk-based approach that provides identity analytics to Identity (IAM) and Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions. This closes the awareness gap between what is provisioned and how the access is being utilized, along with discovery of unknown privilege access risks. Gurucul uniquely enables risk-based certifications, requests and approvals while eliminating rubber-stamping and access cloning for new hires and individuals who change roles in an organization.

Gurucul added hybrid behavior analytics models to its Gurucul Risk Analytics platform which can detect unknown security threats and identity access risks that span both cloud and on-premises environments. Gurucul provides visibility for on-premise and cloud hybrid environments, uniquely delivering hybrid behavior analytics models and hybrid DLP intelligence.
