Gurucul Wins SINET 16 Innovator Competition for 2nd Consecutive Year

Leading Provider of User Behavior Analytics Technology Selected for Ability to Defend Against Most Elusive Cyber Security Threats

LOS ANGELES – Gurucul, the user behavior analytics and identity access intelligence company, today announced that for a second year in a row it has been named a winner of the annual SINET 16 Innovator competition. SINET, an organization focused on advancing Cybersecurity innovation through public-private collaboration, selected Gurucul from a pool of 122 applicants from around the world for its cutting-edge user behavior analytics (UBA) technology which can detect malicious and abusive behavior that otherwise goes unnoticed by existing security monitoring systems, such as SIEM and DLP.

The SINET Award closely follows news that Gurucul was the only vendor to meet all five primary domain and use cases and the compliance and fraud qualifications in the Market Guide for User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) published by Gartner, Inc. on September 22nd.

“According to SINET organizers, this year’s applicant pool of companies was the most competitive since they began the competition,” said Saryu Nayyar, CEO of Gurucul. “The fact that Gurucul Risk Analytics has won the SINET 16 award twice in as many years is especially gratifying. It illustrates that we continue to innovate and deliver capabilities that make it possible to detect advanced threats, like malicious insiders and cloud account hijacking, that are invisible to traditional security monitoring products.”

The Gurucul Risk Analytics (GRA) platform uses identity-centric behavior analytics (UBA) and identity access intelligence to help organizations detect and deter insider threats, cyber fraud and advanced external attacks. Several Fortune 500 companies in the financial, healthcare, technology, retail and manufacturing sectors have successfully deployed Gurucul. They include one of the world’s largest Internet payment companies, a top five US health insurer and several large financial services firms.

SINET 16 entries were vetted in a two-stage process by the SINET Showcase Steering Committee, which was comprised of 100 security experts drawn from the venture, government, industry, academia, investment banking and private sector communities. The selected companies will share their work with buyers, builders, investors and researchers during the SINET Showcase on Nov 3 & 4, 2015 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.
