Vodafone Idea Limited Modernized Its SOC with Gurucul’s Identity-Driven Security Analytics

Vodafone Idea (Vi) is the third largest telecom service provider in India. The company serves more than 250 million consumer accounts as well as large enterprise customers. Vi provides pan-India Voice and Data services across 2G, 3G, and 4G platforms.

Mathan Babu Kasilingham is Vi’s Chief Technology Security Officer & Data Privacy Officer. One of his projects was to modernize the Security Operations Center. “We wanted to be able to look at security incidents in a different manner than we had been doing,” says Kasilingham.

Several capabilities made Gurucul stand out from the competitors. “The platform leverages a variety of machine learning and AI models that our analysts can put to use with relative ease,” says Kasilingham. “The platform already has various use cases that utilize the machine learning models, but we also have the ability to train the models ourselves. That’s very important to adapt the models to our own unique use cases. We find this drastically compresses the time needed for investigations.”
