Gurucul Wins Most Valuable Product Award for Threat Detection

Company Recognized for Ability to Pinpoint Insider Abuse and Hijacked Accounts with User Behavior Analytics

LOS ANGELES, April 6, 2015 – Gurucul, the identity-based threat detection and deterrence company, today announced that the Gurucul Risk Analytics (GRA) suite has been awarded the Most Valuable Product Award from Computer Technology Review in the security category. The GRA suite detects and prevents insider and external attacks with user behavior analytics.

The company will demonstrate GRA at RSA Conference 2015 booth 2509 in the South Expo Hall.

“The MVP Award provides further validation for Gurucul’s leadership position in user behavior analytics space and the value we provide to customers,” says Saryu Nayyar, CEO of Gurucul. “Our ability to [continuous identity monitoring] identity-based activity and attributes enables organizations to detect threats by insiders and external attackers before they can lead to data breaches and fraud.”

Gurucul is transforming enterprise security by treating user identities as a threat surface. GRA is based on the Gurucul Predictive Identity Based Behavior Anomaly Engine (PIBAE), which uses identity data and machine learning algorithms to establish baseline behavior for each user/device. This baseline is compared to peer group activity to detect anomalous patterns. GRA then uses predictive modeling to assign identities a risk score and generate alerts. This 360 degree, contextual view of identities enables Gurucul to detect targeted, under-the-radar attacks, and insider threats.

GRA is deployed by Fortune 500 companies in the financial, technology, retail, healthcare and manufacturing sectors. Gurucul user behavior analytics customers include a leading internet payment company, a top three health insurance provider, a global semiconductor manufacturer and one of the oldest financial services companies in the US. The company was named a Gartner Cool Vendor in Identity and Access Management for 2014
